HELLO WORLD, I’m a human being who writes words and takes pictures, some of which I share on this website. All of the images featured here are my own unless otherwise indicated. I do not use AI tools or AI software features to produce any of the content, images, or design you see on this site. Occasionally, I may use genAI for discussion purposes and will be fully transparent about such use.
I recommend that all humans (and all robots for that matter) abide by Andrew Thompson’s astute warning to “never trust robots.” It’s not that I categorically hate robots or technology. AI obviously has enormous potential – when ethically used – to make human life exponentially better, and I use it and experiment with it for certain tasks. But we live in a time where ethics are shrugged off (or laughed at), and we see a growing selection of use cases where AI makes things exponentially worse for humans. ‘Worse’ has a very large range, but it’s easy to see in the enraging use of AI ‘customer service reps,’ the growing piles of AI slop, and the meh-ification of written communication across virtually all mediums where it is being used.
My vision for my own art and my consulting work is to connect with other actual humans as freely and authentically as possible to create great things together. That’s why I consider the rough edges, mistakes, and wordiness you’ll find here to be features, not bugs.
